Hotel Information and Payment Kiosks

There is no doubt that hotels could make much more use of kiosk technology to really help their customers. Current hotel information kiosks, where they exist in my experience, have the most rudimentary information available on them or they are not functioning. With well thought out menuing software (available from Kiosks4business) local places of interest can be accessed in a very organised way and simply. This can be from local restaurants, pubs, cinemas, theatres etc for short stay customers. Sightseeing places of interest along with interesting detail about them for longer stay customers. Hotel gyms, leisure facilities and restaurants can be shown with menus and prices. For the hotel – featured restaurants, pubs and other local establishments can be invited to advertise on the kiosk for a special place on the restaurant part of the menuing software. This then gives an actual defrayment of the cost of the kiosk to the hotel and gives the hotel customer variety. So often is my question in a hotel; where locally can you eat and where is there a local traditional restaurant etc? The source of the information is never a kiosk.
Having found the right restaurant, say, on the information kiosk the integrated VOIP telephone handset can be used to make the booking direct with the restaurant. Just press the telephone icon on the touchscreen for the restaurant page that you are in and you are connected quickly and for free.
In addition to all of this, imagine that for fast “check-out” you enter your room card into the same kiosk in the foyer and your invoice appears on the screen ready for payment. If you agree, click pay and insert your credit card. Your stay is then paid for and the invoice printed at the kiosk.
The same kiosk can also be used for booking yourself into a hotel (assuming you have a reservation). The kiosk will ask some simple questions of the customer that need to be tapped into the touchscreen. If correct the kiosk will confirm the customer has arrived and issue a room key (and take payment at the same time if required by that hotel). These last two actions (booking yourself in and checking out) reduce the need for hotel staff and are entirely reliable in operation.
To ensure that those kiosks are always working and have relevant menuing software and content; Kiosks4business insist on connecting them via a dedicated ADSL line instead of the hotel’s network. This way, using a version of kiosk management software, each kiosk is remotely monitored 24/7 and remotely configured/reset etc. Even new content can be applied remotely from our kiosk monitoring centre.
Kiosks4business currently provide the same kiosks and service for the government childcare programme across the UK Councils. It is a surprise that hotels have not embraced the return on investment, available from kiosks technology. Especially the enhanced customer service offering using the same kiosk software and monitoring service that the Councils have keenly embraced for Surestart.
If these are not sufficient customer service reasons to employ kiosk information points in hotel foyers, the same kiosk can also be used for browsing the internet or for emails by customers.
